Easy, 5-Minute Seared Tuna

Savory Eats

This recipe is perfect for a quick and healthy meal. Seared tuna only takes 2-3 minutes to cook, then whip up some steamed broccoli, salted edamame, and white rice on the side...ta da! It's a gourmet meal in under 10 minutes...
Special thanks to my friend Keith for this recipe idea.

Ingredients:
*For 2 hungry people
  • 1 pound tuna steak (sushi grade tuna, I bought mine at Whole Foods)
  • Soy sauce
  • Wasabi
  • Salt and pepper
  • White rice, cooked
  • Broccoli, steamed

Recipe:
1. Cook the white rice as directed on the package (remember to add a little butter to the boiling water. It gives the rice a creamier and delicious taste).

2. Meanwhile, salt and pepper the tuna steak liberally on all sides:

3. Heat up a skillet and add 1/2 tablespoon of butter. 5 minutes before you want to eat dinner, place the tuna steak in the skillet:

4. Sear the tuna for 2-3 minutes on each side (depends on the size of your tuna):

5. Steam your broccoli. Mix soy sauce and a good amount of wasabi in a bowl (for dipping the tuna).

6. Slice the tuna steak, against the grain, into 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch slices. Enjoy!
The more wasabi in the soy sauce, the better!
